Overview

Bossier City, Louisiana is a growing community that offers its residents a great place to raise a family, find meaningful employment and enjoy all that life has to offer. In 2009, Bossier City was ranked the Best Place to Raise a Family in Louisiana and #19th in the nation by Forbes Magazine. Bossier City was also ranked 8th among mid-size cities to find a job. Combine this with Bossier City's easy access to numerous recreational activities and you have a wonderful place to live, work and play.

Bossier City is a growing city - population growth is averaging 10% per year - that is focused on providing its citizens with a high quality of life and numerous employment opportunities. In 2007, Bossier City and Bossier Parish launched a new initiative focused on developing a dynamic knowledge-based workforce aimed at ensuring our nation's security and future economic stability. The local governments of Bossier City and Bossier Parish invested $50 million to the development of a 3,000 acre research park in conjunction with the State of Louisiana who invested an additional $57 million. This investment established Phase 1 of the National Cyber Research Park and completed construction of the Cyber Innovation Center headquarters.  Phase 1 includes 64 acres of land and a master plan that calls for over 500,000 sq ft of office space. The first building located in Phase 1 of the NCRP is the CIC headquarters. This building is approximately 135,000 sq ft and includes class A office space, state-of-the-art conference/meeting facilities, and numerous other amenities.

The Cyber Innovation Center is a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation located in Bossier City, Louisiana.  The CIC is the anchor of a 3,000 acre National Cyber Research Park and serves as catalyst for the development and expansion of a knowledge-based workforce throughout the region.   

Mission Statement

The Cyber Innovation Center/National Cyber Research Park will create a knowledge-based workforce and diversify the region's economic base by promoting research, education, and technological innovation and fostering collaborative and strategic alliances between governmental agencies, private industry, and academic institutions.

Goals

  • Stimulate innovation-based economic growth through strategic partnerships.

  • Foster collaboration and serve as a conduit for governmental agencies, private industries and academic institutions to share ideas and advance research.
  • Build the necessary critical infrastructure that will attract federal programs to the area.

  • Create symbiotic relationships with key government agencies.
  • Leverage relationship with and proximity to Barksdale Air Force Base; home to the United States Air Force's newest major command - Global Strike Command.
  • Create a supportive environment that encourages and focuses on technology commercialization.
  • Market and co-op cyber technologies and ideas through public / private partnerships.
  • Increase opportunities for internships, jobs and exposure.
