The Cyber Innovation Center (CIC), in support of the HQ United States Air Force Operations, Plans & Requirements Directorate (HAF A3/5) and with the participation of the Air Force Electronic Systems Center, will conduct a Private-Public Sector Cyber Collaboration Conference and Mission Analysis Workshop on 20-21 April 2010 at the CIC's Bossier City facility near Shreveport, Louisiana. The purpose of this announcement is to provide background information on the workshop to all potential participants.

The Warfighter/Industry Collaboration Enterprise (WIC-E), a project sponsored by HAF A3/5 (Pentagon), is currently evaluating and further refining the processes associated with their collaboration framework. In addition, the Air Force would like to leverage the exposure to capabilities in both the public and private sectors to inform its requirements process. As the bulk of the cyber domain is owned and operated by the private-sector, this workshop seeks participants from large and small companies, research organizations and academic institutions, and other potential operational capability providers. There is particular interest and benefit to involve companies which do not have experience working with the military, but possess cyber expertise and unique solutions that have been applied commercially. This conference and its workshops provide opportunities to evaluate the processes associated with the Air Force's cyber collaboration framework, as well as provide recommendations for improvement. With broad participation from the Air Force and both public and private organizations, the results of this workshop will influence a number of planned WIC-E follow-on activities.

During this workshop, participating organizations will be exposed to military mission analysis processes and provided opportunities to interact with the mission analysis specialists. The workshop approach offers benefits for both warfighters and capability providers: Warfighters will be exposed to cutting-edge technologies and capabilities that could be quickly developed to meet operational needs, and technologists will be provided insights into the existing gaps and the evolving needs of warfighters even before they are formalized as requirements.

As the interface for this public-private partnership, the WIC-E will work creatively and collaboratively with both the public and private sectors to share challenges, identify immediate capabilities, and offer tailored or recommended solutions to meet evolving military needs while protecting public and private interests to include intellectual property.
