BOSSIER CITY, La. — Air Force Global Strike Command Office of the Chief Scientist (AFGSC/ST) is continuing to help Airmen learn about new technology and connect with other innovators through the Consortium for Digital Innovation (CDI).
The CDI gives Airmen opportunities to join, at no cost, so they can learn, share their knowledge, and contribute to digital innovation projects.
“Data and digital transformation are key to maximizing AFGSC's mission efficiency and effectiveness,” said Dr. Paul Hausgen, Deputy Chief Scientist for AFGSC. “Partnerships like the CDI are crucial for accelerating these advancements and ensuring we maintain our competitive edge.”
Airmen can pick one of the technical focus cells to join. These include data analytics, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning.
In addition to learning, collaborating, and accelerating progress, members can also attend working groups. Airmen are able to facilitate networking amongst industry and academia partners when the AFGSC/ST provides these opportunities and support systems for pitching their new research ideas.
The CDI wrapped up its second working group in June at the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) in Bossier City, Louisiana, with a focus on data analytics, and modeling and simulation. The first CDI symposium was held this past November on using AI to benefit the AFGSC mission.
The CDI is another effort by AFGSC/ST to modernize how data is used throughout the command. AFGSC/ST has been recognized as a leader within the U.S. Air Force in digital transformation, with its adoption of the Envision environment as the Command’s primary data and digital transformation platform.
“As we start to identify the Command’s working data — not the data we get from enterprise sources, but the data we create and use on a daily basis — the CDI is a forum for letting others know who has what data requirements, and who can supply the data needed to meet those requirements,” said Doug Fullingim, former chief data officer for AFGSC.
STRIKEWERX at the CIC, the innovation hub for AFGSC, is providing support for the CDI with organizational help, planning symposiums, and setting up resources for idea sharing.
