STRIKEWERX defense innovation informs Global Strike data analytics

BOSSIER CITY, La. — STRIKEWERX, the innovation hub for Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), has provided a defense innovation that creates a path for data-driven decisions in the command via the Common Risk Picture (CRP).

STRIKEWERX and its partners in the AFGSC Office of the Chief Scientist worked with the Cyber Innovation Center’s Cyber and Digital Operations team to collect data across the Department of War (DoW), U.S. Air Force (USAF), and AFGSC. The data was then analyzed and organized by CRP for AFGSC leadership to assess risk in completing missions and inform the best course of action.

The analytics and engineering capability provided by CRP enables AFGSC to develop and deliver high-value metrics while reducing Airmen’s duplication of effort and time spent on data preparation. The result is faster delivery of metrics, improved quality of information, and strengthened speed of decision-making.

“As part of the command’s shift toward data-centric decision-making, CRP was successful in the completion and implementation of a data analytics platform,” said Dr. Paul Hausgen, interim AFGSC chief scientist. “CRP used measurable, repeatable analytics to improve commanders’ understanding of mission risk and enable programmatic decision support across the command’s portfolio.”

Hausgen also noted that CRP helped shape how Envision, the Air Force’s enterprise data platform, was adopted and scaled.

“By using Envision, these analytics capabilities become accessible across the entire USAF, expanding reach beyond the local organization and improving standardization and reuse,” he said.

Moving forward, CRP’s data pools will be used in the Striker Data Analytics Platform (SDAP), an enterprise data store for the command. SDAP curates and performs analysis of AFGSC data to be consumed by other use cases.

Additionally, the Command Metrics and Analytics Tool (CMAT), led by the Commander’s Resolution Office team, is actively using the analytics created by the CRP project.

CMAT modernizes AFGSC’s force readiness data across the command through the development of an integrated tool that consolidates metrics and leverages critical information.
