Comments from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal

. . . As for the Homeland Security grants, Jindal said Shreveport-Bossier City will get a portion of the funding to create a statewide urban search and rescue task force system that would provide a combined response of first responders to provide immediate life saving capabilities anywhere in the state.  Baton Rouge and New Orleans also will establish task forces.

None currently exist in Louisiana; the closest being in College Station, Texas.
Bossier City has been picked as the site for a north Louisiana fusion center – to be established at the Cyber Innovation Center – to coordinate state emergency response agencies and law enforcement in response to threats of terrorism or public safety.  The Bossier City site will be an alternate to the Baton Rouge facility. New Orleans also will get a fusion center.
